Vows
Legally, as an authorised celebrant we have to include the following sentences in the ceremony under our Marriage Act – Section 45 (2) of the Marriage. Vows must be said by each party to the wedding:
“I call upon the persons here present to witness that I (Name) take you (Name) to be my lawfully wedded husband (wife)”
Personalised Vows
Couples can choose to write their own vows. I think it is beautiful and more personalised. I am happy to work with couples to capture what they would like to say to their spouse on their special day.
Example
Justin: I Justin, take you Amal, to be my lawfully wedded wife,
I promise to stand beside you
To dance with you in times of joy
To lift you up in times of sadness
To rejoice with you in times of health
To comfort you in times of illness
I promise to turn to you for solace, for encouragement, and for inspiration
I promise to be faithful and true to you
I promise to shower you with love and affection
Every joyous and blessed day, for the rest of our lives
Amal: I Amal, take you Justin, to be my lawfully wedded husband,
I promise to stand beside you
To dance with you in times of joy
To lift you up in times of sadness
To rejoice with you in times of health
To comfort you in times of illness
I promise to turn to you for solace, for encouragement, and for inspiration
I promise to be faithful and true to you
I promise to shower you with love and affection
Every joyous and blessed day, for the rest of our lives
